How the data for the market overview was collected.

To create a current market overview of existing EMS, potential providers were first identified. To do this, search engine research was conducted, the Federal Innovation Monitor website was reviewed, trade shows were visited, and discussions were held with industry representatives. The focus was on complete solution systems that do not require the development of additional components. Providers were invited to complete an online questionnaire between December 2022 and June 2023 to capture the characteristics of their EMS. The information requested was that found today in the tool in the individual portraits of each system. In August 2023, providers were given the opportunity to recheck and update their information.

All information on the EMS in this study is based on self-declaration by the providers. To avoid discrepancies in the interpretation of the terms, reference was made to the definitions of the functions during the survey. However, a different interpretation of the terms cannot be excluded. EZS therefore assumes no responsibility for the correctness of the information.

Of just under 100 companies contacted, 51 took part in the survey, 32 of them from Switzerland or Liechtenstein and 19 from abroad. The remaining companies refrained from participating for various reasons; most frequently because their system is not an EMS according to the definition given here or because they are not currently interested in developing the Swiss market.
